Cities and Towns in the Red River Valley
The courthouse for Denton County. I'm biased, but I think it's the prettiest courthouse in the state of Texas.
I prefer writing about ghost towns, but places that are still alive are nonetheless necessary for a region to work. Interestingly, only Louisiana cities are directly on the Red River; those in Arkansas directly at the Red River are still present but are no more near as important as they used to be; those in Texas that were once on the Red River aren't even visible anymore; and there were no cities or towns in Oklahoma (Indian Territory) that were ever on the Red River to begin with. The history of transportation, colonialism, and the Borderland all factor into this geographic phenomenon, where history is literally read on the map.
